Industry expertise

Developing customised, end-to-end financing solutions for high-end customers requires an understanding of the specific characteristics of an industry. IKB has bundled its industry expertise in specialist teams. Our industry experts work in close cooperation with local customer advisors and product experts.

In addition to the personal experience of the team members, our experience is based on many years of cooperation with small and medium-sized German industrial customers. Our industry experts are also closely networked via associations, events and technical committees.

We develop customised solutions, ensure high-quality support for our customers from project initiation through to the successful conclusion of a transaction, and are available for every project with a strictly defined team.

Healthcare, Pharma &Chemicals

We have an intensive insight into the pharma and life sciences, healthcare services (acute treatment and rehabilitation clinics, nursing facilities, laboratories, pharmaceutical trading) and medical devices (medical technology, diagnostics and hospital equipment) segments and the chemicals industry, all of which are growing worldwide and are characterised by consolidation. Thanks to our excellent access to various decision-makers, the team has supported more than 70 transactions (including M&A, IPOs and private placements) in the healthcare and chemicals industries over the past twenty years.

Consumer & Retail

Numerous years of industry and transaction expertise consequently carry an in-depth understanding of the dynamics of our individual market segments, consumer food (incl. beverage, meat, dairy products, confectionary, baked goods) and consumer non-food (incl. clothing, shoes, household goods, furniture, DIY, drugstore products) as well as of both on- and off-trade distribution within those industries. Our industry spectrum is complemented by timber and wood processing industry, paper & packaging, gastronomy & leisure and consumer goods logistics.

Our small- and medium-sized customers are faced with a growing consolidation trend in an international competitive environment and continuously changing consumer needs. The digitalisation of the entire value chain along with the growing importance of e-commerce activities and the issue of sustainability are imposing further challenges for most of our clients. There is both growth and earnings potential in these challenges which are to be exploited.

In detail, the spectrum of opportunities and challenges presented by different business models is as broad as the Consumer & Retail sector itself.
A track record encompassing more than 250 successful advisory and financing transactions serves to demonstrate the expertise of the Consumer & Retail industry team and the trustful relationship we enjoy with our customers.

Energy & Utilities

Our customers include energy utilities, regional suppliers, public utilities, project developers, plant construction firms, suppliers, grid operators and financial investors. We are well connected within the industry and support our customers along the entire value chain: generation, regulated grids, trading, storage and distribution.

The beginning of the liberalisation of the energy market in 1998 saw the privatisation of numerous public utilities. Our experts supported this process as well as the subsequent phase of market/participation consolidation and the current renationalisation of public utilities.

In the renewable energies segment, we finance and advise project developers and investors, plant construction firms and suppliers. In the area of conventional generation, we have supported our customers in structuring the financing of high-volume projects for many years.

Since the late 1990s, the team has been involved in the successful completion of more than 250 advisory and financing projects. We will continue to be available to our customers for future challenges, such as the turnaround in energy policy, as an expert partner on an equal footing.
